ON DASOPYA'S UPDATE TO DAGAPYA

June 13, 2026 - Published

By the time you read this post, the constructed language formerly known as Dasopya has finished undergoing a major overhaul! There has been some confusion regarding this rework, so I will go into detail about it here.

But first, to explain: why do an overhaul now? I said in the past that the language would receive no more major updates, but over time, there were a lot of changes I wanted to make that I ignored in order to maintain the language's stability. However, I eventually decided that these changes were too important to me, and that making these changes would guarantee the language's stability in the long run.

Doing this overhaul and rebrand now while the language's community is still relatively small would be the best time to do so. The language had also been close to a 100% stability update for a while now, so this is what I consider to be the final push that it needed. I hope that this is an acceptable apology for changing the language so suddenly!

The most important bits:

- Dasopya is now named Dagapya and has a new flag. The name Dasopya will only be used to refer to previous versions of the language, ending with its final version 1.2.3.

- Dagapya has 55 vocabulary changes from Dasopya 1.2.3, listed at the bottom. There is only 1 base change to the language, which is that L can no longer be used as a glide. The grammar, the orthography, the rest of the phonology, and the rest of the vocabulary is untouched, so don't worry too much if you've already been invested in learning the language!

- Dagapya will generally be referred to as an artlang for marketing purposes, but since its design is maintained, it is still meant to be perfectly suitable as an auxlang.

- Barring abandoned projects, all previous media will be updated into Dagapya as possible, which will be worked on in the coming months.

- With the Dagapya update released, the language is finally considered 100% stable after about 2 years of development. This comes with some necessary caveats, which are listed below.

Changes that Dagapya may receive:

- Word additions, since these will not affect existing media

- Definition disambiguations (e.g. noting that the word for "night" can also mean "evening"), since these will not affect existing media

- Since Dagapya is meant to be a living language, community-led changes and additions, if popular enough, would count as a change to the language whether or not I approve and add them in officially

- I reserve the right to make 1-3 emergency changes, but this does NOT include word deletion, which is now off the table (though the community is free to phase out words)

And in terms of explanations, that should be it! Thank you all very much for the feedback and support over the past 2 years. The last bit of this post will be the list of changes, which are in the vocabulary spreadsheet, but will be listed below for convenience. Please feel free to reach out and ask any questions about the update, and I will put it up here if I feel it fits.
